“Tribute to American Graffiti” event coming to Altamont April 5-6
French Camp, CA – Noceti Grupe Inc officially announced today the “Tribute to American Graffiti” event at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, CA, with racing taking place over two days for NASCAR Western and Westcar Late Models, Modifieds, ALSC cars, and West Coast Enduro cars.

Noceti Grupe Inc is a brand new motorsports promotions company by central valley business owners Carol and Tony Noceti

The points paying event will pay out over $40,000 in prize monies including $3000 to the WLM winner, $2000 to the Modified winner, and $1000 to win the ALSC feature.
WLM and Modified racing will take place on the track’s half-mile oval, with ALSC and Enduro racing taking place on the quarter-mile.

Saturday’s Enduro will pay $2000 to win, with Sunday’s second chance paying $500 to win.

In a first for Altamont competition, no qualifying will take place, with Saturday’s 20 lap heat race grids being set in order of registration. Drivers will then compete hard during their heat race, as they jockey for a better starting spot in Sunday’s features.

Sunday’s feature line-up will be set by the finishing order of the heats.

Drivers are urged to send in their registrations as soon as registrations begin on the 12th. Registration will go live at 8 p.m.

All Altamont and Westcar 2008 rules will apply, and drivers must be an Altamont, Westcar, or NASCAR member to compete. NASCAR will sanction competition in the Late Models, ALSC, and Modifieds. Westcar competitors MUST have a NASCAR license.

The weekend’s festivities will also feature a healthy mix of spectator activities, including a classic car show on Sunday, live music both days, food vendors, and a chance to meet and sign autographs with Bo Hopkins, star of “American Graffiti.”

Past and current racing champions will also sign autographs all weekend. In addition, raffle prizes and programs will be offered.

[color=darkred]FYI, the Enduro will be on the road course, top 5 from Saturday can run their car with a different driver on Sunday. 100 entry (in advance) covers both days but will need to purchase a pit pass seperately each day. Also the transponders are extra.

Looks like the Noceti group is planning on a 3 race series with some type of recognition at the end of the year. This is as close to a series as we have been wanting for years, lets support it and help them be successful which in turn will make it even stronger in the future.
